the formula, which forms the basis of Yogic practice, Yesu teaching, early ascetic Christianity, Buddhism and Tao Teh Ching philosophy, is easy to understand.  Desire for ego gratifying things and for sense pleasures is an un-quenching fire which rages in the soul.  the more you feed it the higher it burns and the more it needs as fuel.  Unfulfilled desires bring about unhappiness.  the impossible quest to fulfil the desires, and the ensuing heartache and sorrow, takes up all one’s resources and nothing is left to search the Truth.  What then is the remedy?  Stop wanting, and you will stop feeling that you are not receiving your due.  And Scripture tells us that at the time when we learn to stop wanting, then the cosmic forces will start supplying whatever we need and more.
