This is the great secret of life, and the immense challenge we all face.  We are little gods, as Psalm 82 was quoted by Yesu, and we are thus creators of our own little universes.  In other words, we suffer the consequences of our own creations.  Whatever we put our minds to, with faith, we do achieve.  To cause the mountain to move takes a small amount of faith says Yesu.  Every day we create conditions by the thoughts we put out and by determination of will.  But do we know what is best for us?  No, most of the time we act in self-delusion and carry on creating and creating without taking heed to what we ought to be, have and do.  In this manner we create our own Cause & Effect and we have to live out the consequences.
