This is a description of a phase which the almost-perfect pass through, when the Energies of God are unleashed to destroy the last remnants of the Enemy (Satan - the inner force opposing our deification) within.  

the last sentence is added to remind us that not only is the above description valid mystical theology but it also serves the literal sense. To mention only one example: if we continue to allow the Godless to pillage and abuse our inheritance the earth, in the end the crime will turn on us as, perhaps, the poles melt in judgement when the weather patterns cause the world as we know it to be destroyed and a new world, fit for a new race, to rise from its remnants.
