One explanation of vss 1 and 2 is that the author is here referring to a Jewish folk story which holds that Wisdom saved Adam after his fall and allowed him to lord over creation.  Another possibility is that the author stands in the same school as those who believe the first spirit to have been incarnated was saved by Wisdom, over time, to take up the leading role of first Brother, Prince of Heaven, and guide of all us younger ones on the Way back to God.  Hereafter the author proceeds to step through the Hebrew literature in leaps and to link the saving grace of Wisdom to each landmark event.
