Lot was saved from the fire which destroyed the cities caught in vice.  Because he was an upright man he was seeking Wisdom, and Abraham his teacher’s intercession for him also assisted Lot on the metaphysical plane.  the Light went up for Lot and he was rescued, not so much from the death of the body but from destruction of the soul.
